10 Things to Know About Me
I need to show my face more here, so if you’re new here… HEY! I'm Van and I run this lil business. I'm a wedding and portrait photographer living in Tacoma, Washington and I'm here to share a little bit more about me. Aaaaaaaand go!
I'm a total animal lover. When I say that, I'm not just talking about dogs and cats. Videos of cows running through pastures or baby ducklings running across the driveway will make me sob. I don't just get teary-eyed, I full on cry and usually can't stop myself! I have such a love for animals and their peculiar but familiar ways. I've been vegan for the last 5 years and I don't plan on ever going back to eating or using animal products. Wanna talk about how to reduce your animal consumption? EMAIL ME. I’m not joking (and I’m not judgmental about it, I swear).
I'm married to the absolute love of my life. Some days feel like a dream because he treats me so well unlike anybody ever has. I'm getting butterflies just typing this out! We call each other beep (it’s a strange transformation from ‘baby’ 😂) You’re def gonna want to check out photos of him below, some are a real throwback from when we first met in 2014!
I still consider myself a new Washingtonian!! We moved here in August and we’re finally feeling settled and like we have a home again. It may have taken us 4 months to find the right couch so we’ve had an air mattress taking up 90% of our living room, but that’s what happens when you’ve got limited space and really, really want a chaise.
I'm an INFJ (only 1% of the population is!) and I'm absolutely creative, altruistic, and decisive. But I'm also quite sensitive and can be a perfectionist when it comes to completing tasks. My entire life is set up as being black and white- either finish something 100% of the way or don't bother starting it. It can be tricky!
Rob and I rescued an absolutely adorable Dalmatian and Staffordshire Terrier mix (who we thought was a Labrador-retriever-boxer mix, oops) on my birthday 2 years ago and we named him Kodiak. He is three years old and can be a reaaaaaal handful and has a long way to go as far as training, but I've never loved a pet the way I love him.
I have synesthesia. Specifically, words and number have colors and some have traits or characteristics. Sounds and tastes also have spatial qualities as well as colors. It's a gift and a curse, let me tell you.
Some of my favorite things: taking a nap in the sun after swimming, hiking well past where I probably should hike just to reach a summit, binging on all things chocolate flavored, dancing in the kitchen to Regina Spektor with my dog, and my favorite movie currently is Interstellar (it makes me cry so much. An embarrassing amount. I'm no stranger to crying, obviously).
I drive a 2008 Prius! I named her Clementine and have had her for about 6 years. She's getting pretty worn after hitting 200,000 miles, but she's reliable and can fit so much stuff. I’ve driven her from Wisconsin to the Pacific Northwest three separate times, and have made countless trips up and down the coast with her. She’s more reliable than most humans I know.
I have continually frizzy hair, swear with or without reason, and you can probably find my leg hair growing out of control. I keep it real over here.
I will go far above and beyond for the people I care about. I truly enjoy baking goodies for friends, hosting dinner at my apartment, and putting together care packages when someone is struggling. If I had an unlimited budget, my friends would get weekly shipments from me filled with treats and the things they love.
What are some facts about you that I might not know?
Strange or not, share a little about yourself in the comment section below. I want to know about the people who read this little blog (all 5 of you 👋).
