2017: A Year in Review
There's no doubt about it that this year was a tough one. For me personally, for some loved ones, and for the country as a whole. I'm switching things up this year and am only going to post images instead of breaking things down month by month. I'm feeling a lot less wordy this time around.
Notable things that happened:
January 1st- I started my first year as a registered LLC. It's been great so far, but we'll see how I feel after I file taxes in a couple of months!
January 8th- Donald Trump took office as the President. It's been over a year since the election and I still am shaken by the way everything turned out.
January 21st- I rallied with 3,000,000 women around the country to raise our voices and show the new administration exactly what we thought. This personally lit a fire in me that hasn't gone out.
May 9th- I saw some stray ducklings and reunited them with their parents after chasing them around the apartment complex. My heart nearly burst with joy.
May- Took my first vacation with Rob since moving home from Oregon in 2015. It was short and involved a lot of driving, but we really needed to get out of the Midwest for a minute.
June 13th- After collecting tampons, pads, and bras for a few months from coworkers and friends, I made a huge donation to I Support the Girls so they could hand them out to women in need in the Milwaukee area.
June 22nd- I cut my hair the shortest length I've had it since it was shaved a handful of years ago. And I loved it!
August 6th- Went to Lambeau field in Green Bay to see the Packers practice. I haven't been there in over 10 years!!
September 1st- I got engaged to the love of my life and best friend on the docks at Memorial Union in Madison. I'm someone's fiance!!
September 17th- Saw Paramore for the first time since 2007 and said goodbye to one of my very dearest friends, Shauni. We became super close when I moved to Milwaukee and it was a tough goodbye that I wasn't looking forward to.
November 22nd- Went ice skating with Rob in Chicago for one stellar birthday!
All year- I worked 5 jobs total. Some more often than others, but all were to pay off the rest of our debt and start saving to move to Washington next summer. I struggled with depression and having a borderline personality disorder, but took care of myself more this year than any year before. I shot more weddings than any past year and made half of my day job income! I started roughly planning our move back to the West Coast (permanently!) and picked my last day at the hospital. I, once again, was forgotten about by people who I considered lifelong friends, so I clenched my jaw and moved on because I consciously decided I will not be a second thought or a backburner friend. I made a best friend out of my rescue dog, and even though he is the toughest thing I've ever had to care for, I love him endlessly.
